History of the Department

In 1962 the Kharkiv Mining Institute was renamed into the Institute of Mining Machine Building, Automation and Computer Engineering (Order on renaming No. 562 of 06.08.1962). Therefore, new departments were formed that would correspond to the profile of the institute. At the end of 1962 the Department of Computer Science and Industrial Electronics was organized (Order No. 331 of 15.09.1962), the head of which being Candidate of Technical Science Oleksiy Volkov who later became Doctor of Technical Science, Professor, and created his school of scientists on technical cybernetics. From 1971 to 1988 he got in charge of the Department of Technical Cybernetics in the Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation (now National Aviation University).

In 1963 after the division of the Department (Orders No. 62, 20.02.1963 and 153, 28.04.1963) were created: “Computer Science” (Acting Head of the Department was appointed Associate Professor Volkov Alexey ) and “Industrial Electronics” (Acting Head of the Department was appointed Associate Professor Trubetskov L.V.). The faculty of “Computer Science” was created (the Acting Head of the Department was appointed Associate Professor Volkov Alexey). The first elected head of the department of “Computer Science” was prof. Rvachev Vladimir Logvinovich. He drew in a number of well-known scientists: Yuriy Shabanov-Kushnarenko, Anri Murashko, Leonid Shklyarov, Evgeniy Putyatin, Vladimir Tishchenko. The Department of Computer Science trained engineers in the speciality of Mathematical and Numerically-solving Instruments and Devices. In scientific terms the Department was engaged in the development of computer facilities, new methods of calculation, mathematical modelling of the peculiarities of human sight. человека.

On June 26, 1964 on the basis of the Department of Computer Science there formed three departments (Order No. 163, 30.04.1964): Technical Cybernetics, which was led by Candidate of Technical Science., Assoc.Pr. Volkov Alexey, Mathematical Programming and Modelling under the guidance of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Science, Prof. Vladimir Rvachev, and Mathematical Machines which was led by Candidate of Technical Science., Assoc.Pr. Georgiy Belik.

On September 1, 1966 the Department was given a new name: Mathematical Machines of Discrete Action (Order No. 53, 01.09.1966). Whereas Georgiy Belik left for a long-term business trip to Guinea, on September 7, 1966 Anatoliy Evdokimov, Candidate of Technical Science, Assoc.Pr took charge of the Department of MMDA; he finished his doctoral dissertation in 1972, and became a professor in 1974. Anatoliy Evdokimov headed the department until 1978, and then he was in charge of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in Kharkov State Academy of Municipal Economy.

In 1977 the department was gained another name, the Department of Electronic Computers (Order No. 182, 31.08.1977). From 1978 to 1982 it was headed by Candidate of Technical Science, Assoc.Pr. Anatoliy Sushko.

From 1982 to 1988 the department was charged by Candidate of Technical Science, Assoc.Pr. Gennadiy Kalinin.

From 1988 to 2015, the head of the Department of Electronic Computers was Doctor of Technical Science, Prof. Oleg Rudenko. From February 2016 to September 2019 O. Rudenko headed the Department of Information Systems of KhNEU named after S. Kuznets.

From November 2, 2015 to December 26, 2016 the department was charged by Doctor of Technical Science, Prof. Igor Ruban. During his leadership of the department there were significant qualitative changes in the sphere of organization of the educational and scientific process, namely, the academic load distribution was optimized, a number of dissertations were defended.

Since December 27, 2016 I. Ruban has fulfilled the duties of Pro-rector on scientific and methodological work of KNURE; and the acting head of the department was Andriy Kovalenko, Candidate of Technical Science, Assoc. Pr.

Since January 5, 2017 the head of the department has been Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Oleg Mikhal who has devoted more than 25 years of work to the Department of Electronic Computers.

Pursuant to Order No. 240, 05.06.2018 “On the Enactment of the Decision of the Academic Council of the University”, the Department of Technical Informatics No. 2 was created, which, in accordance with the Order No. 206,  26.04.2019, “On the Enactment of the Decision of the Academic Council University”, was named Computer Intelligent Technologies and Systems. By Order No. 217, 26.04.2019, Prof. Aksak N.G. responsible for the creation of the department assigned and assigned to the audience number 41a “z” (removed from the department of electronic computers) and 36a “z” (removed from the department of RTICS), and according to Order No. 331, 31.07.2019 from the department of electronic computers to the department of CITS transferred the laboratory 229. Since February 2016 O. Rudenko has headed the department of CITS.
